Art & Science of Training Realism Workshop Series
This archive documents a portion of the record behind Moulage Concepts' 20-year hands-on practice and 1,200+ custom wound designs, the field-tested foundation on which the CAPE™ training line and the Rapid Recognition Response (RRR) framework are built. Each entry below began as a working design inside that practice before being selected for publication in EMS World's Wound of the Month, Moulage Minute, and Industrial Series columns.
Founder's Statement — The Moulage Library
Training realism is a form of respect.
Every wound documented here began the same way each piece in my 1,200+ designs began: with intention. With the decision that the people who run toward these types of unscripted events, and those they serve, deserve training on something real, not something convenient.
For over a decade, each design in this archive was studied first, hand-sculpted, and performed, tested alongside real training dynamics, long before it was ever written down and shared. These are not illustrations. They are rehearsals for the moment realism matters most: the moment a responder's hands must already know what they are looking at.
This work sits alongside the peer-reviewed Medical Moulage book and our Tending Hands collection, including Hands of Catastrophic Change, created for the responders and families of 9/11 and mass-casualty events and held in gallery collection. Together, they trace one throughline: the book teaches the science, Tending Hands honors the cost, and the Moulage Library preserves the craft.
Where Tending Hands renders what a responder carries home, the Moulage Library renders the training moment they walked into. Both come from the same place: a moulage expert's insistence that the people who reach in deserve the awareness, purposefully built.
